Jordan Vauvert thumbnail

So what are we gonna do?
Stand up.
Fight back.

(Merci Poesy Rider). Favorite track: Higher Horses.

Favorite track: Higher Horses.

1.
(Malcolm X sample: "Be courteous. Obey the law. Respect everyone. But if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery.") When a boot's on your neck, pushing it off is called self-defense. And look around: You'll see there's no shortage of boots needing pushed. Guess what: The violence you get is the violence you deserve. The oppressed will always (and should always) fight back. So if you really wanna stop the violence, first stop the oppressing. If you really wanna stop the crime, stop committing it. (Malcolm X sample: "Suffer peacefully. Don't stop suffering; just, suffer peacefully.") Or just close your eyes. Plug your ears. Let Intuition take hold. Guess what: The violence you get is the violence you deserve.
2.
Sit quiet on your hands and take the beating. Sit quiet on your hands and take the beating. Pray for a better day. Praying never hurt a soul. Sit quiet on your hands and take the beating. Sit quiet on your hands and take the beating. Pray for a better day. Pray for a better day. Praying never hurt a soul. Never hurt a soul. Hurt a soul.
3.
When a boot's on your neck, shoving it off is called self-defense. And look around: You'll see there's no shortage of boots needing shoved. "Turn the other cheek" was directed at the oppressor, not the oppressed. Non-violence is a powerful strategy, but it is only one strategy. What we need is a diversity of tactics. When push comes to shove, know which side you're on. Heads up: Prepare for class war. (No war but class war.) For every force, there's an equal and opposite reaction: act of self-defense. "Stoop to Their level"? Impossible. We don't have enough capital.
4.
Sit quiet on your hands and take the beating. Pray for a better day. Who's really the "Morally Superior" one: The CEO? The "entrepreneur"? The banker? The politician? Or: The person who's tired of picking through our garbage to survive? The person who's tired of going hungry so we can die of overeating? The person whose labor, livelihood, life, is robbed, each and every day, and decides to fight back? Who are we to tell them violence is wrong? Who the hell are we to tell them violence is wrong? Besides: Who cares if you're the "Morally Superior" one, if you you're beaten in the process? Who cares if you're the "Morally Superior" one, if you you're murdered in the process? The real "Morally Superior" one is the one who doesn't do the beating in the first place. Fuck high horses. It's important that we see what's on the ground. Fuck high horses. It's important that we see clearly what's on the ground. Pacifism can be (but, significantly, is not necessarily) a tool of control, to maintain the status quo.

A Romance 03:05
Instrumental; no lyrics. Sampled dialogue from Arundhati Roy (2010 interview with CNN-IBN, available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYW_-xAKD5s): "[N]on-violence, and particularly, Gandhian non-violence in some ways needs an audience. It’s a theatre that needs an audience. ... How are the hungry to go on a hunger strike? How are the people with no money to boycott taxes or foreign goods or do consumer boycotts?" "Because I think it suits the status-quo to have everybody saying… this is terrible and all. So just let’s just keep on without taking it into account the terrible structural violence. ... [A]ny responsible person has to say that the violence will stop when you stop pushing those people." "It’s a terrible thing to do to any society. I don’t think that there is any romance in it. However, I’m not against romance. I do feel it’s incredible that these poor people are standing up against this mighty state."

Class War 02:53
Sometimes, it's eat or be eaten. Even when (especially when) your stomach's empty. Sometimes, it's beat or be beaten. And when you're already battered and bruised, what do you have left to lose? "Turn the other cheek" was directed at the oppressor, not the oppressed. Push has come to shove. Know which side you're on. News flash: This is called class war. (No war but class war.) Class war. No war but class war. The Working Class, the 99%, is, and has been, under attack. So what are we gonna do? Stand up. Fight back.
7.
When a boot's on your neck, and They refuse to take it off, and They grind it deeper, and They break your trachea, chopping it off is called self-defense. Our necks are already tired; our necks already ache; our necks are already black and blue; and Capital has a new pair of spiked boots. Kill Capitalism before it kills you.
